Teaching Excellence Award for Non-Tenure Track Faculty

The ECE Faculty Honors Committee solicits nominations of faculty members as candidates for recognition in six categories. Faculty colleagues only may submit nominations for these awards via the online form. The correspondence in the package should be addressed to the ECE Faculty Honors Committee. The Committee requests one pdf file containing the entire contents of the nomination package: a nominating letter, candidate résumé, and three letters of recommendation submitted via the online form. Only complete nomination packages will be accepted. Questions can be directed to Maryam Saeedifard.

This inaugural award recognizes exceptional performance by non-tenure track faculty member in:

  • Teaching Excellence: Demonstrates exceptional teaching skills and techniques, effectively delivering course content and facilitating student learning.
  • Pedagogical Innovation: Utilizes innovative and engaging teaching methods, incorporating active learning strategies, technology integration, and creative approaches to enhance student participation and understanding.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Possesses a deep knowledge and understanding of the subject matter, staying updated with current research and industry trends to provide relevant and accurate information to students.
  • Communication Skills: Communicates ideas and concepts clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, adapting the delivery to different learning styles and engaging students in meaningful discussions.
  • Student Engagement: Actively engages students in the learning process, encourages critical thinking, fosters a supportive learning environment, and promotes student involvement through interactive activities and projects.
  • Mentorship and Support: Demonstrates a commitment to student success by providing guidance, mentorship, and support outside of the classroom, assisting students in achieving their academic and career goals.

This award consists of a $2,000 check and a plaque.

Each submission requires a succinct 100-150 word highlight blurb for presentation at the Roger P. Webb Awards Program. The blurb should showcase the nominee, spotlighting their noteworthy accomplishments, relevant highlights, and accolades.
