The Roger P. Webb Awards Program in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering

2021 Roger P. Webb Awards Program

The Roger P. Webb Awards Program in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering recognizes the excellence of the School’s faculty, staff, and students and celebrates the end of the academic year. This website details the awards for faculty, staff, and students. To nominate a person for an award, please see each category for specific instructions on how to submit nomination packages. All nominations must be received by Friday, February 26, 2021.

Normally, we have an in-person awards ceremony, followed by a reception, to publicly recognize the recipients of the faculty, staff, and student awards. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it will not be possible to have such a ceremony this year. Please expect to hear more about how we will recognize our 2021 faculty, staff, and student award recipients in the coming weeks.

Faculty Award Categories

The ECE Faculty Honors Committee solicits nominations of faculty members as candidates for recognition in four categories. Faculty colleagues only may submit nominations for these awards to Jackie Nemeth; the correspondence in the package should be addressed to the members of the ECE Faculty Honors Committee. The Committee requests one pdf file containing the entire contents of the nomination package: 1) a nominating letter, 2) candidate résumé, and 3) three letters of recommendation. (The initial nominating letter may be submitted online, followed by the pdf file of the nomination that may also be submitted online.) Go to the ECE Faculty Awards page.

Award categories include:

  • Distinguished Faculty Achievement Award
  • Outstanding Mid-Career Faculty Award
  • Outstanding Junior Faculty Award
  • D. Scott Wills ECE Distinguished Mentor Award

Staff Award Categories

The ECE Staff Awards Committee solicits nominations of classified staff, research faculty, post-doctoral fellows, and general faculty in three categories. Nomination packages for these awards may be submitted by ECE faculty and staff members to Caitlin Buro and Janine Lyn. The Committee requests nominators complete the online form and submit nomination packages electronically via the awards program website. The Research Spotlight Award also requires a two-page summary of nominee achievements. Nominators are encouraged to include additional letter(s) of support with all nomination packages, regardless of award category. Go to the ECE Staff Awards page.

Award categories include:

  • Hats Off Performance Award
  • Research Spotlight Award
  • Academic Spotlight Award

Student Award Categories

The ECE Student Awards Committee solicits nominations of outstanding students in six categories. Faculty and staff members only are encouraged to submit nominations to Greg Durgin. Nominating packages and letters may be submitted online to Dr. Durgin. In addition, seven more undergraduate awards will be chosen and given by the School of ECE and by the Eta Kappa Nu Honor Society, and an eighth – the Colonel Oscar P. Additional Recognitions

Georgia Tech has a number of Institute-level awards programs for faculty, staff, and students. If any ECE students receive Institute-level awards that are not specific to the School of ECE, they will also be recognized at this event.
